Praise the Lord! Hello from Gwangmyeong, South Korea! I arrived on the field April 2018 and am living right outside of Seoul in the city of Gwangmyeong. Gwangmyeong has a population of about 350,000 people and is just one of many “small” cities included in the metropolis of Seoul. I will be living here and attending the church in this city until the end of September, when Missionary E.J. Kim is due to return from deputation in the U.S. At that time I’ll be moving and attending a different church in the Seoul area. I’m praying God directs me to where I am needed the most.
Currently I’m teaching English Bible classes at the church to adults and young people. God has given me so many opportunities to meet people when I’m walking around in Gwangmyeong and in Seoul. Most people will ask for your contact information so I’ve been talking to a few every week. I’m excited for what God is starting in these peoples lives! I’m spending more and more time studying the language as well and will probably need to register for a class soon. I can carry on basic conversations, but understanding when I’m spoken to is more difficult. The next couple of weeks is Family Camp and Youth Camp. Both will be held at the UPCK’s (United Pentecostal Church of Korea) campgrounds, about 3 hours from Seoul. The Korean church is blessed to have their own property and camp buildings. I’m expecting great things from God over the next couple of weeks and can’t wait to share it with you!
I’ve created a flier that I will be taking to a couple of universities soon. I have to get permission from the schools first, so I’m praying I encounter no opposition. I’ve heard that other Christian groups use “free English lessons” as a way to get people to come to their church and was told it might not be well-received.
However, I have a God who continually calls people to Himself and I believe with all my heart He has already lined up people that I will be meeting in the future! He is getting this country ready for revival and I’m so excited for what is to come!
